Remit: Gabon (offshore FPSO operations). The role covers the full HSE remit for the offshore installation, working closely with the offshore crew, contractors and onshore HSE management.
CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT
Our client, a major international Oil & Gas operator, is looking to urgently appoint an HSE Superintendent to join its offshore team in Gabon. The role is based on an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) unit and requires a hands-on HSE professional able to take ownership of the HSE performance of the installation from day one.
The position requires immediate availability and offers a 6-month contract, with the possibility of renewal for a further 6 months, on a 5x5 offshore rotation (7 days a week while on rotation).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
HSE Management & Compliance
Ensure the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System on the FPSO and associated offshore operations.
Ensure full compliance with applicable HSE regulations, international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and company policies.
Liaise with relevant Gabonese regulatory authorities (DGH, DGE) on HSE and environmental matters as required.
Ensure the Permit to Work system is properly implemented and rigorously followed across all offshore activities.
Risk Management & Incident Investigation
Lead and coordinate HSE risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZID reviews and other process safety studies as required.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor HSE performance indicators, analyse trends and report on HSE statistics to management.
Identify emerging HSE risks and proactively drive mitigation measures across the installation.
Emergency Response & Training
Organise and lead emergency response drills and exercises on the FPSO.
Ensure offshore personnel and contractors receive appropriate HSE inductions and training.
Promote a strong HSE culture and safety leadership across the offshore crew and contractor workforce.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
Supervise and support HSE officers and technicians on the installation.
Oversee contractor HSE compliance and performance on the FPSO.
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and onshore HSE management to align HSE priorities and initiatives.
Prepare and deliver regular HSE reporting to onshore management.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education | Degree in HSE, Engineering, or a related field; recognised HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH or equivalent) required. |
Professional Experience | Minimum 10 years of experience in HSE roles within the Oil & Gas industry, including significant offshore experience. Prior experience on an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) unit strongly preferred. Proven track record in leading HSE teams and managing HSE performance on major offshore operations. Immediate availability required. |
