Senior Contracts Buyer / Administrator

Swakopmund, Erongo Region, Namibia · Full-Time · On-Site · Reports to the Supply Chain Manager / Commercial Manager

As Senior Contracts Buyer / Administrator, you own the commercial backbone of the operation: you draft, negotiate and administer the supplier and service contracts that keep a ramping-up copper mine protected, compliant and on budget.

The Project

You will support one of Namibia's most exciting mining stories: the restart and expansion of a historic copper mine, with construction under way and first production targeted for Q4 2026. The operation is ramping up towards a doubled throughput of 60,000 tonnes per month, backed by substantial international investment — and it needs a world-class supply chain team to get there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and negotiate supplier contracts for goods, equipment and services.
  • Lead tendering processes: RFQ/RFP preparation, bid evaluation and award recommendations.
  • Administer long-term service agreements and monitor supplier performance against SLAs.
  • Manage variations, claims and contractual correspondence through the contract lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance and Operations on commercial risk mitigation.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready contract documentation.
  • Support cost optimisation through strategic contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and Namibian mining regulations; mentor junior staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Commercial Law.
  • Minimum 8 years' procurement and contract administration experience in mining, oil & gas or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, tendering processes and commercial terms.
  • Proven negotiation and analytical skills with high-value contract portfolios.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or similar).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and attention to detail.
  • Fluent professional English; position based in Namibia.

What We Offer

  • A key role in a flagship copper project during its most decisive phase.
  • Competitive package aligned with senior mining supply chain benchmarks.
  • A multicultural, high-standards working environment with international exposure.
  • Real impact: your sourcing decisions directly enable the production ramp-up.
