⛏️ MINING · NAMIBIA

Senior Buyer

Swakopmund, Erongo Region, Namibia · Full-Time · On-Site · Reports to the Supply Chain Manager / Procurement Superintendent

As Senior Buyer, you own strategic procurement for a copper mining operation in full ramp-up: you design the sourcing strategies, negotiate with regional and international suppliers, and keep a production-critical supply chain running without a miss.

The Project

You will support one of Namibia's most exciting mining stories: the restart and expansion of a historic copper mine, with construction under way and first production targeted for Q4 2026. The operation is ramping up towards a doubled throughput of 60,000 tonnes per month, backed by substantial international investment — and it needs a world-class supply chain team to get there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with operational and financial goals of the mine.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure favourable commercial terms, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Manage high-value purchases of mining consumables, equipment and maintenance contracts.
  • Conduct supplier audits, quality assessments and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Operations on budget forecasting and spend control.
  • Drive cost-reduction and inventory-optimisation initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Ensure procurement compliance with company policies and Namibian mining regulations.
  • Mentor and develop junior procurement staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 8 years' procurement experience in mining, construction or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Fluent professional English; based in or willing to relocate to the Erongo region.

What We Offer

  • A key role in a flagship copper project during its most decisive phase.
  • Competitive package aligned with senior mining supply chain benchmarks.
  • A multicultural, high-standards working environment with international exposure.
  • Real impact: your sourcing decisions directly enable the production ramp-up.
