1. Position Summary
The Well Construction Fluids Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable laboratory support services related to drilling, completion, and well integrity fluids operations.
The role includes performing laboratory testing, supporting fluids selection and design, preparing technical reports, and ensuring quality control of products and additives prior to field deployment.
The position supports operational performance by maintaining high HSE and quality standards while providing technical assistance to operational and engineering teams.
2. Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Perform laboratory testing and quality assurance analysis on drilling and completion fluids products
- Conduct routine and advanced fluids testing in accordance with company procedures and industry standards
- Prepare and maintain laboratory reports prior to wellsite deployment
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and cleanliness of laboratory equipment
- Monitor inventory and availability of laboratory consumables and testing materials
Technical Support
- Support additive selection and fluids system recommendations

Assist with fluid design optimization for:
- Well integrity
- Drilling fluids
- Completion fluids
- Provide technical support to field operations and engineering teams
- Participate in troubleshooting and fluids performance analysis
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company QHSE procedures and client requirements
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all testing activities are performed safely and according to approved procedures
Communication & Coordination

Maintain regular communication with:
- Client Support Laboratories
- Product Centers
- Operating locations
- Technical support teams
- Utilize internal technical repositories and reporting systems (e.g., InTouch)
3. Required Qualifications
Education
-
Diploma or Degree in:
- Chemistry
- Chemical Engineering
- Petroleum Engineering
- Laboratory Sciences
- Related technical field
Experience
-
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in:
- Oil & Gas laboratory operations
- Drilling fluids or completion fluids environment
- Experience with Well Construction Fluids operations preferred
- Offshore or remote-site experience is an advantage
4. Technical Skills
- Knowledge of drilling and completion fluids systems
- Laboratory testing procedures and QA/QC standards
- Understanding of well construction operations
- Ability to prepare technical laboratory reports
- Familiarity with industry HSE standards
